Lester In Corner 1
Lester the Key-Pressing Robot was a player on CaveMUSH for a while. He sat in the corner of my bedroom next to the CaveMUSH server in front of a keyboard which was logged in under the name of "Lester." His program would select a random interval between key presses from 1 second to 5 minutes and run in a loop. When activated, the yellow arm with two rubber Lego tires would swing down and hit both the apostraphe key and the enter/return key, making Lester look un-idle on the MUSH. The goal was to make it look like Lester was a real player with non-regular idle activity. I added an A/C adapter so he could run 24 hours a day, and a manual trigger on the side (the yellow button) so I could make him active at any time. At first it was difficult sleeping with Lester chunking away all the time, but I got used to it. I probably left him running for a month or so until the novelty wore off. Besides, I didn't want to wear out my Mindstorms brick or lego motor. -- RedWolf
